FRIDAY MORNING - APRIL 19, 2013

The forecast for Friday was rain and would be starting early.  Actually forcasted to start around 6:00 a.m. but thank goodness it didn’t start that soon.  We actually got our packs ready for the day without it raining on us.  David’s friend Jonathan West had made contact and wanted to walk a few miles with us before he went to work.  He met us at breakfast at McDonald’s and we set out for the day “the WET day.”  We dropped the van off at the National Forest Service office for the ending point of the day.  Then drove down and dropped off Jonathan’s car where we had calculated for the time he could be with us.  Finally we were at the point of starting to walk.  The ending point for Thursday and now the beginning point for Friday.  The clouds were ominous but the rain was a mist.  We decided to go ahead and put on full rain gear.  Great idea, we started walking at 9:10 a.m., got about 300 yards and the proverbial bottom fell out!
Pictures were made at the starting point and of course no one stopped to offer getting a picture of the three of us so the two pictures.  Just to prove we were there!!
While Jonathan was walking with us we had a first!  We passed in front of a house that had the front and side yard disc up and had all kinds of strings crisscrossed over it about two feet high.  I assumed they had planted grass seed or a garden or something and had that to keep birds from eating the seed.  As we got in front of the house we could see a guy standing in the front door and we all spoke and waved.  We got about 150 yards down the road and “Boom”  and just as quick we looked back to see the guy on the porch with a shotgun!  He was shooting in the other direction so I guess I was right about him trying to keep critters off his yard.  Even with this occurrence Jonathan still wants to walk on a future leg with us.  He actually walked 5 miles with us and his car was parked at Shiloh Baptist Church.  We actually took a pack-off break while there.  The church did not have a covered porch on it but there was a covered stoop on the side at another entrance.  There is a picture posted of that break spot and it is very blurred.  My phone was in a zip loc bag and the picture was made without taking it out.
After the break, it was then time to focus on getting to Tuskegee for lunch.  As you can see from the picture welcoming to the city of Tuskegee, we made it.  There are some more pictures that we hope to have posted in the future.  We experienced technical difficulties with the taking of the pictures.  Or I should say I had difficulty and maybe with Michele’s help we can get them posted soon.
We made it to Lunch around 1:00 at The Coop.  The Coop deserves its own post.
